Vaganova Ballet Curriculum and Training

Marianna Rozanova Academy Director of Alchemy Ballet Academy in Virginia teaching a class

What is Vaganova?

Vaganova is a method of ballet in which the dancer is training their whole body for overall strength and stability while still emphasizing agility and poise. This base of technique best prepares a young student for a diverse range of movement, a sought after skill in the dance community.

Most of the world’s famous ballet dancers trained in Vaganova, for example, Michael Baryshnikov, Anna Pavlova, and Rudolf Nureyev. There is no question that this method encapsulates the beauty and strengths of ballet.

Why Choose Alchemy?

Ms. Marianna Rozanova, with her extensive training at the Vaganova School in St. Petersburg and professional career, brings first hand experience and knowledge to the states in this method. The faculty is adamant about training the best, well rounded dancers whether their goal is to become a professional or not. Students will not only experience the in-depth training of Vaganova that our instructors provide, but they will also have opportunities to hone in on skills of more contemporary techniques.
