Vaganova is a method of ballet in which the dancer is training their whole body for overall strength and stability while still emphasizing agility and poise. This base of technique best prepares a young student for a diverse range of movement, a sought after skill in the dance community.
Most of the world’s famous ballet dancers trained in Vaganova, for example, Michael Baryshnikov, Anna Pavlova, and Rudolf Nureyev. There is no question that this method encapsulates the beauty and strengths of ballet.
At Alchemy Ballet, our exceptional faculty—including Artistic Director Lorraine Spiegler—brings a wealth of experience from leading institutions and companies around the world. Our team is deeply committed to providing students with rigorous, well-rounded training rooted in classical technique and enriched by contemporary practices.
Whether a student is preparing for a professional career or dancing for personal growth, our faculty offers individualized instruction that nurtures both technical excellence and artistic voice. Through in-depth training in the Vaganova method and opportunities to explore a range of movement styles, dancers at Alchemy develop the versatility, confidence, and resilience to thrive on any path they choose.
We value the importance of creating a well-rounded, knowledgeable dancer. From a young age, we provide our students with a strong foundation that will carry them through whatever career path they choose. Our curriculum includes:
